Disambiguating a brand name three other companies already owned

A blockchain studio, a cemetery records company and a listed shell got to the word first. Here is the entity protocol, and the brand SERP at month zero.

We chose the name before we checked the index. That was a mistake, and since this practice exists to make entities legible to machines, it is a mistake worth publishing rather than quietly fixing.

Who was already there

Pontem Network is a venture-backed blockchain product studio holding pontem.network and pontem.ai. Pontem Software has held pontem.com since long before either of us — cemetery management software, trading since 1979, whose own tagline concerns building bridges to the future. Pontem Corp was a listed acquisition vehicle. A French non-profit holds the obvious Instagram handle.

Why this is a real problem and not a trivia item

An answer engine resolves a query to an entity before it retrieves anything about it. Ask a model who Pontem is and it must pick between a wallet, a burial-records system and a shell company. Nothing we publish gets attributed correctly until that resolution stabilises. For a practice that sells exactly this capability, launching without solving it would be indefensible.

The protocol

The name never contracts. Pontem One is a compound in every context — title tags, alt text, invoices, spoken introductions. Title formula is always the full name followed by a descriptor, never a pipe that teaches a crawler the first word is the entity and the rest is decoration.

Own the record. Organization schema on every page carrying the registered legal name, the trading name as alternateName, and a sameAs cluster. Then a Wikidata item, which is weighted more heavily than its traffic suggests in how models disambiguate.

Defensive registration. Matching domain and handles across every platform, held whether or not we use them.

What we will publish

The brand SERP and the four major model responses to "who is Pontem One", captured at month zero, three and six. Including the months where it has not worked.
