STEP 01 OF 6Build phase

Before anything else works, your website has to be readable by the machines that answer patients' questions.

This is the least interesting part of the job and the one everything else depends on. If Google and the AI systems cannot properly read your site, nothing you publish afterwards reaches anyone.

We call this step Code. You can call it foundations.

WHAT WE ACTUALLY DOSTEP 01
  • Make every page load fast, especially on a mid-range phone on a poor connection
  • Fix the settings that stop AI systems reading your site — most sites have at least one
  • Make sure every page is on the list search engines use to find your content
  • Check that your Google listing shows correct hours, address and phone
  • Set up tracking so you can actually see where enquiries come from

What usually goes wrong

Most hospital websites are slow, and a slow page loses a patient on a phone before it finishes loading. Many are built in a way search engines only half understand. And a surprising number are accidentally blocking the AI systems entirely, because of a setting nobody chose and nobody has looked at since the site was built.

Why it matters to you

Google's AI answers are built from pages Google has already read. If your pages are not properly read, you are not in the running — not ranked low, simply absent. And absence looks exactly the same whether you were second or four-hundredth.

If this is skipped

Everything after it is wasted. Beautiful articles nobody can find. A consultant profile no machine can read. Money spent on ads pointing at a slow page.
